Some defendants can afford the best defense attorneys in the country. Evidence is twisted to create gaps of doubt. And in the end the defendants are acquitted even when they may appear guilty. Each hour-long episode of the documentary series Rich and Acquitted tells the story of celebrities who use their money in order to escape tricky legal situations.

On May 4, 2001 the new wife of actor Robert Blake, Bonnie Lee Bakley, is shot to death in the couple’s car. Blake claims she was attacked while the actor momentarily returned to a nearby restaurant to retrieve his gun. Almost immediately, rumours begin to circulate about their short lived marriage. It was no secret that although newlyweds, the couple were far from lovers.
